It would chirp, but if your engine mounts were tight, the clutches grabbed good, and the tires are thin.
Wife has an 89 Auto DX...I don't think the valving will let her hit redline in Second...I think it's around 5700 when it slides into second. It's all controlled by pressure and all kinds of crap that makes a mess when you looks at the Maintenance Manual from honda...fear having to rebuild one, your best off going to a manual swap.
I would say though, First sucks in an Auto CRX, Second pulls good and long, and third is quite strong...actually was impressed.
In an 89 Auto prelude, First kinda suckked until it started rolling just a bit and then started to run good, and shifting to second it ran extremely hard...I was very impressed, Third just pulled on felt like a little less power. I give the Auto 88-91 Prelude a plus...it was fast.
And I sure as hell did chirp tires ever time I got on it and it shifted to second...that's with 205/50's also!
